Love Letter to My Bridegroom King
By: Bonnie Walker
Shhh! I listen for Your footsteps. Is that You?
My heart skips a beat, as I wait
For Him that I know to be TRUE!
Does Your lover’s heart long for me
The way that mine longs for You?
“Aye!” Your Spirit whispers, “Even more! Even more!”
Oh, Messenger Spirit, tell my Bridegroom King,
That my heart aches for His embrace –
So long, too long, I have gazed with baited breath
Towards the eastern horizon.
Precious, sweet moments spent with You here,
All too few, and so often loudly interrupted by life.
Precious sweet moments spent with You there, fewer still,
But so dear to my spirit
That I am spoiled for anything on this plane below.
I am undone, totally wrecked and ruined for normality.
Roaming this earth below, with an insatiable longing
That cannot be explained nor ever be fully satisfied here.
Simple tasks at hand, changing sweet babies’ diapers,
But my spiritual ear is ever attuned –
“What was that sound? Was it Your laughter I heard?”
Surrounded by thousands and thousands of voices,
Yet Your softest whisper is louder, so much louder, than all of these.
I crave to hear it more.
Aching longings, so oft I feel will explode from within my chest –
As I ponder Your incredible Majesty! Hail, my Holy King!
I see You everywhere, in the drop of dew on the roses’ tender petal,
In the gentle breeze as You caress my hair,
So lovingly, kissing my face.
You are there! I feel and breathe deeply and know –
Oh, how my soul rejoices! You are right here . . .
Near, so very near! And yet my soul craves more.
I long for Your constant embrace, constant fellowship with You –
Never to be broken by time or space, or the busyness of life.
Unbroken unity with my Bridegroom King.
The One who is and was and is to come!
Come quickly, my Sweet Lord, my heart awaits
pounding against my chest!
Love beckons, and deep cries unto deep.
I, Your Bride, am waiting . . . waiting . . . and waiting still . . .
Shhh! Is that His sweet call that I hear?
