Hello Peeps! LOL! Not sure how many of you caught that, but oh well. I know most of you city-dwellers including my Atlanta daughter are going to laugh at my pics, but I just really like chickens. They are one of my favorite animals along with horsed and cats.
I remember as a child going to Momzie's (my grandma's) house. She had this old corn crib with ears of corn that they would pull by hand, so that the shucks were still on the ears of corn. I'd sit in the door of the crib, calling Momzie's chickens, and pull off one kernel of corn at the time to feed her chickens. Chickens would start running to me from all directions! I would sit there for hours just feeding the chickens. It wasn't til I was grown and had received inner healing that I realized why I enjoyed it so much. You see, I grew up in a dysfunctional home, but at Momzie's there was no hollering and cussing - just peaceful bliss. So, my chickens take me back to those peaceful times, reminding me of my sweet grandma and the peaceful times that we had at her house.

There's something else that our feathered friends should remind us of - our Loving, Heavenly Father! What? How so, you may ask? Many of you might not know this, but under a hen's wing is one of the warmest, softest, cozy-comfiest places in the world. No wonder the little biddy dashes up under its mother's wing like our cute little friend in the picture. Father God says we are to run to Him. Let Him cover us with His feathers (His protection) and rest in that safe place of refuge (in His Presence) where we can feel His every heartbeat! I kind of think that the Psalmist might of had some chickens he was thinking about when he pinned those words in Psalm 91:4.
Thanks for letting me share my Whimsical Wednesday with you, and the next time you see a chicken I hope that it makes you think of our loving Abba Father's Protection and Presence!
