Teaching Tuesday / Inevitable Change

ree

Change? To make or become different!

Most of us aren't comfortable with change, even the more pleasant scenario's of change - and the more painful, hurtful kind . . . well, we scream a lot through those seasons (or at least I do!).

Think of all the changes the butterfly has to go through before he can fly. From grubby, lowly caterpillar, to being totally encased in immobile darkness for only God-knows how long, before it is released in all its beauty and glory. Whew! What a journey!

But it's not pointless! The journey has a purpose! Yours does, too. Your season of change is creating something beautiful and glorious, if you will only surrender it to the Master's Creative and Loving hands.

Today, school started back for our county along with several others adjacent to ours. After 5 months of not being in the school building, hundreds of happy, nervous, elated, and uncertain children with a gauntlet range of emotions changed! They changed from their 5 months of normal back to an uncertain attempt at a semi-normal school year.

Change is all around us. God created us to change. Think of the changes that take place from an egg, to the biddy being hatched, and full circle to the hen that lays the eggs. Change - to make or before different! God is continually stretching us to be different!

A lot of the Facebook comments today where about how much the children had changed, and how tearful it makes all us sentimental moms. That's so true, but not the first one of us would make or force our children to remain the same, Never growing up or getting to reach new milestones in life would be so sad.

Here's little Olivia 3 years ago loving on her nephew, Little Jak. What tiny miracles they were then, but I wouldn't wish them back to that age and miss all the love and laughter that they've brought into our lives (And I feel sure that Mark and Katrina would agree!).

We must learn to love the change! Even the painful change of loss has a hidden treasure from Heaven, a gold nugget if you will, that will bring a wealth of blessings and wisdom into our lives if we will only sit a Daddy G's feet and rest in His Presence with our pain in the midst of the change.

Yes, change is inevitable , but how it affects us totally depends on our response to it. As parents, are we kicking and screaming about those changes we can't control, or are we teaching our children how to roll with the punches of an ever-changing life. Parent, it's your choice! Which will you choose?
