Teaching Tuesday / Declutter!

ree

I was sharing with a friend about decluttering her house in the natural. How God is a God of order, and as His children, we are to copy Him. Experts claim that if you haven’t used that “item” in a year, that even if you needed it, you wouldn’t remember you had it, or where it was at! So, get rid of all the excess that’s in the way and collecting dust! It helps me to remind myself that it would bless someone else, and that hoarding is a fear-based sin. Others may need these items that I’m clinging to because of all the “what ifs” that could happen, and I might need them. That’s fear, and not trusting your God to supply your needs. Even being a good steward and having a yard sale to make money would be a great alternative to hanging on to stuff out of fear. Fear is not an acceptable excuse for not being a good steward. Jesus rebuked the servant that just buried his talent because he was afraid, calling him wicked and lazy (see Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25: 14-30). I don’t know about you, but that is NOT what I want to hear Jesus say to me. So, let’s be good stewards and DECLUTTER our lives in the natural!

While, we are decluttering in the natural let’s look at the other areas in ours lives that might be a bit messy! I believe in this season the Lord is cleaning us, His Body, up. He has us re-evaluating our priorities, double checking our values, and re-examining our focus. What’s most important? Where does our focus go? A pastor once declared ,

“Where the focus goes, the power flows!”

Which direction is your power, your focus, flowing? Experts say that where you spend your time and money determines what you value in life. Take a few minutes and examine that checkbook. What does it reveal about what you value ? Take a look at that planner the past month. What took top priority?

Let’s BE STILL, sit at Jesus’ feet, and let him declutter us from all the unnecessary fluff and stuff that we have inadvertently packed into our lives. While you are sitting with Him, let Him clean out any unforgiveness, bitterness, & resentment. You don’t need that junk cluttering up your life and being used by the enemy to kill, steal, or destroy your righteousness, peace, and joy!

One day last week, I was sharing with my young ones that it’s a whole lot easier to keep the house clean than to let it get knee deep in trash and junk and then try to clean it all up. The same is true for us spiritually. Be a quick repenter! Don’t let those hurt feelings fester and become poison bitterness to steal many minutes of your days, weeks , and years.

IT’S FALL Y’ALL!!! A new season is here! Don’t you feel the crispness beginning to seep into the air! DECLUTTER in the natural and the spiritual! Let’s embrace this NEW SEASON REJOICING in our God!
