Teaching Tuesday / "Be A Voice!"

Olivia, Elijah, and Janiah reading their stories that they had written in school.
Here's a prayer from another book that I read recently:
"Lord our God, hear my prayer, the prayer of my heart. Bless the largeness inside me, no matter how I fear it. Bless my reed pens and my inks. Bless the words I write. May they be beautiful in your sight. May they be visible to eyes not yet born. When I am dust, sing these words over my bones: she was a voice." - The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd
What captured my heart was the main character's desire to be a VOICE, to make a difference. And then my thoughts turned to how we as Christians didn't use our voices to stop abortion, to stop prayer from being removed from school, and a whole multitude of other issues to which we were silent. Today, Memorial Day 2020, as I write this there are tears in my eyes. When I think of all the soldiers that gave their lives so that we could be free, I weep! They gave so much, and I have so taken it for granted. The freedom that they died for we have sat quiet and complacent with our silent voices and watched as those freedoms have been slowly stolen from us in broad daylight. I am ashamed! Please forgive us, God!
My heart is stirred to Be A Voice!
I want to be a Voice in prayer to bring God's Kingdom to earth!
I want to be a Voice in my children's hearts so that they will learn to love like Jesus!
I want to be a Voice in my world so that those who are hurt and broken can find healing!
I want to be a Voice in my community by loving those around me and reaffirming to them that Father loves them unconditionally.
I want to be a Voice in my state to change laws that will provide better care for foster, needy, and underprivileged children by revamping the entire foster care system.
I want to be a Voice in this great nation to inspire and challenge the hearts of Christ's Church to care for the orphans, adopt them into their hearts and homes, and give them forever families.
I want to be a Voice in our President's ear to speak up for the children in this great land.
I want to be a Voice echoing Father's heart to be grateful for all His Magnificent Blessings and to NEVER take them for granted again.
Yes Lord, I want to be a VOICE! I want to be YOUR VOICE! saying what you say and declaring Your GOODNESS, HEALING, and RESTORATION IN OUR GREAT NATION!
May GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
------------
I want my children to enjoy the same freedoms that I have so taken for granted, but if I don't teach them TO USE THEIR VOICE - who will?
