Faithful Friday / Hearing God at a Young Age

This picture reminds me of the first time that I journaled what God spoke to me through nature many years ago. It was January 22, 1975, and I was 16 years old.
I had walked to the edge of the woods near our home, and sat down next to an old well. Here's what I wrote (and please keep in mind I was 16!):
"I was at the well, and I had just asked God something. Then I heard a bird's call. I turned and there sat a weird looking bird. Then all of a sudden a mocking bird (with whom I am very familiar) flew down and scared the other bird away. God had just answered my question whatever it was. He said, "Let faith take over and your worry will disappear."
This poem I entitled "FAITH" flowed our of that experience at that time.
FAITH
by: Bonnie Warren (later that year to become Walker)
One rainy day when I was feeling sad.
Faith flew in and made me glad.
Yes, I had been worried you see.
Worry had twittered and twittered in the tree.
Then I prayed to God, and out of nowhere
Faith came down and gave worry a scare.
So, there sat faith up in the tree,
Looking down straight at me!
And as I returned his look, I could almost here him say,
"Smile, my child, I'm going to stay,
And I'll help you in every way!"

God is always speaking to us . . .
sometimes through a sunset,

sometimes through His Word, sometimes through a child. He has an infinite number of ways to speak to us. I shared with one of my children the other day that had questions about life -
"Ask Him! You know what His voice sounds like! HE NEVER STOPPED TALKING . . . YOU JUST STOPPED LISTENING!"
to which my child replied,
"This is TRUTH!"
How about you? Have you stopped listening? Maybe you are hurt or offended at Him because something in your life didn't turn out like you wanted, or you're afraid? If so, it's okay just run to Him instead of away from HIm. I hear Him saying to us in this season, "Be still and know, that I am God!"
